Fourteen-year-old Hanoverian gelding “Cornetto” has long-since proven his worth as a dependable jumper since arriving in North America from Germany a decade ago. His early years were spent in Canada competing with professionals Tatiana Dzavik and Roberto Teran. Both riders showed him with great success in the five- and six-year-old jumper classes at venues like Bromont and Angelstone. In 2011, Cornetto won the 5-Year-Old Jumper Canadian Championships. He was then purchased by a succession of juniors and amateurs to compete in the United States show circuits. His newest rider, Mia Green, has taken over the reins at Forget Me Not Farm under trainer Stefanie Mazer. HorseScents is excited to help this pair create a solid bond built on calm vibes.
Cornetto’s incredible scope and style come as no surprise given his impressive pedigree. The gelding was sired by Grand Prix show jumper Cornet Obolensky who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as several FEI World Cup Finals, with German rider Marco Kutcher. Cornet Obolensky’s sire, Clinton, was ridden by German Olympian Dirk Demeersman at the 2006 World Equestrian Games.
Cornetto has swept up numerous top ribbons while teaching his riders the ropes of competitive show jumping. The Children’s Jumper classes Cornetto frequents are reserved for young riders under the age of eighteen. They are divided into high (3’7”-3’9”) and low (3’3”-3’5”) divisions, which can be further divided into age groups if a show has enough entries. Cornetto has also competed in Junior Jumper classes for riders under twenty-one years of age. These, too, are divided into high (4’7”) and low (3’11”-4’1”) divisions. Some shows feature medium jumper classes with fences lying somewhere between the high and low heights. Adult amateur entries are often combined with the children’s and junior entries.
HorseScents wishes Cornetto and Mia Green the best of luck heading into their 2020 season! It has been wonderful to see the relaxing power of lavender, even on the most seasoned competitors. ScentSacs offer stress relief for shipping, schooling, and everything in between!
